Government Compliance to the ASTM Standard.

The Commercial Item Descriptions (CIDs) for many government padlocks, A-A-59486 and A-A-59487, specifically reference performance requirements tested by ASTM F883.

Upon the publication of the revised Standard, F883-09, these CIDs now also define the level of bump-resistance performance for these padlocks.

To ensure conformance to these government product requirements, Master Lock Company made BumpStop technology, which has met and exceeded the test criteria used in the ASTM Standard long before it was established, the default cylinder in Master Lock and American Lock government padlocks. In addition, BumpStop is an optional upgrade in Master Lock and American Lock commercial padlocks and door hardware, making a wide range and variety of compliant security products available for government use.
